Lasse Buch, the man behind Birthgiving Toad, describes his music as no less than a “mind-altering, highly addictive, yet listenable psychoactive”. People on the Internet have described the music as “Mutant No-Wave Funk”, “a sweaty, funky, a bit lo-fi version of math rock”, “very offbeat and complex pop-prog” and “Fuzzed-up prog metal fusion jazz-funk”.

Birthgiving Toad’s show at Trailerpark Festival 2012 is one of the first shows where he’ll be performing with a full band. Rumor has it that one of Denmark’s finest record labels are releasing Birthgiving Toad later this year.

Fenster is a duo consisting of New Yorker-turned-Berliner JJ Weihl and Berlin-born Jonathan Jarzyna. Their label Morr Music describes their sound as “de-constructed pop music layering subtle distortions, melodic chords and city soundscapes under dream narratives”.

When we first listened to Fenster we immediately had a vision of a sunny day at Trailerpark Festival with Fenster as the soundtrack, and we are very happy to welcome the band to their very first concert in Denmark – ever!

It’s been a while since you’ve heard from us but don’t worry – the dates for Trailerpark Festival 2012 have finally been set.:

The 6th edition of our beloved festival will take place at CPH Skatepark from August 31 – September 2, 2012. We’re once again located at our favorite spot in Copenhagen: CPH Skatepark.

The music will be performed by a bunch of übercool DJs and two live acts as well; Kala-OK & Sekuoia.

This Trailerpark Festival is the 5th for our Head of Documentation, Mette Ohlendorff. “It’s kind of an anniversary!” she says. For this festival veteran Sunday has always been her favorite day, and this year is no different. Here are her recommendations for the final day…

Peaches Karaoke Set
Peaches is epic. She is an amazing artist and performer and I can’t wait to see this particular show. I think we are in for a real treat and something quite unique.

TP All Stars
Every year, some of our dear friends help us celebrate the end of a brutal and amazing week. Don’t miss this years TP All Stars playing, it is bound to be a moment full of love and dancing.

Vinnie Who
This band never fails to deliver an extraordinary performance. They possess the coolest stage presence and are a regular fixture as Trailerparks last act. Tears will be shed, kisses will be shared and lyrics will be song!

Camping
This year Trailerpark Festival has it’s very own camping area! Only a few minutes walk from the Skatepark, this is a perfect place to crash after a long night of dancing. Check out all the facilities here!

Recommendations
Today, the lovely ArtRebels Senior Graphic Designer, Ditte Mellson, shares her favorite picks of the day. Being a musician herself, this girl know good music and has been providing the office with some of the tunes from these bands in the last few months…

Dorit Chrysler
The theremin is a rare instrument and way too overlooked. Its sound will make you think of old sci-fi and horror movies – often used as background music during the creepy scenes or the arrival of an UFO. I first saw Dorit Chrysler as a guest artist in a Trentemøller show last year and she was my favourite performer. Not only is she talented – she’s also super cool on stage.
This concert is part of the Smagsdommerne LIVE debate by Musikparlamentet and Trailerpark that takes place tomorrow, Saturday at 14.

Shanghai
I was totally blown away by Shanghai’s debut EP which is produced by Danish music darling Kasper Winding. The duo has written some eminent songs performed with a strong vocal. Definitely on my top three of new Danish music this year!

Kenton Slash Demon
These boys are in the super league of electronica/techno in an international aspect in my opinion. They pay so much attention to the detail and every sound is a piece of candy. A must-see if you like a good rave!

“I have a lot of (totally clever) stuff on my mind and I really like to share (read: interrupt to get the attention). Rumour has it, that it’s a little sister’s thing? But instead of just stamping in the ground, pulling my hair, screaming and shouting at my TV, my closet or the neighbour’s cat, I started intervening public space with words, drawings, stickers and objects.

It’s supposed to be entertaining, fascinating, disruptive and FUN! And if I manage to snap people out of their hazy everyday wake-up-get-clothes-prep-kids-go-to-work-come-home-make-dinner-go-to-bed snooze, it all adds up for me.

Figurines
These guys are simple some of DK’s finest songwriters, Christian Hjelm, the lead-singer, is no less than a world-class vocalist. I grew up in the same area as Figurines and they have lead the way for my own band, Oh No Ono, and a whole generation of indie-bands in Denmark.

FCAN
As FCAN’s alter ego Mensch Matsumoto puts it: “FCAN is a “MIND_SPACE_TRIGGER”. This stuff works like a drug. When listening to FCAN the feeling of being in an undiscovered ‘space’ of consciousness can be triggered. You’re in for something unique!

Chateau Marmont
I’ve gotten to know so much good music since I joined the TP crew. Chateau Marmont is one of the finest bookings by Pernille & Ena this year.

Forest & Crispian
Three charming swedish lads playing danceable modern rock with really strong lyrics! And hey, they even got a stand-up drummer (who’s also the lead singer, and totally awesome).
