My name is Jens Paldam. I am very happy to be returning this year to the Trailerpark Festival!

I am thirty three years old, and I have been drawing all my life, except for a few years in the nineties, were I was terribly distracted by being a teenager. I have a job in my spare time, this allows me to draw freely without having to worry about making money of my drawings.

I like to think of myself as a random drawing generator, that accumulates reflections, ideas and visual impressions and spit them out on a piece of paper in a new abstract form.

Ideas such as perspective, symmetry and order are man-made concepts that I see no reason for honoring in my work. They don’t cover my needs. No two things are the same and nothing remain unchanged. The way we see things does not necessarily reflect what the things are. I draw what I know and remember…

- Jens Paldam, Copenhagen 2013

Since his debut at the ”Autumn Exhibition” of 2007, Jens Paldam have had his art exhibited in London, Berlin and Stockholm. He has made five solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions.

“In the 90’s I grew up among the villa fences in the province. I lived a comfortable life – building caves and made soup of snails and horseshit over open fire. In my early years I painted the streets along the gutter in the dark hours. It was where I learned the basic rules in order to communicate and express visually. Today – years later – I live for the experiments and challenges of visual expression through sculptures, installations, videos, still-life’s and paintings. I’m a question-orientated experimental artist; I express moods and tell stories, breaking down the borders of art and design while doing my Master of Arts atThe Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, school of Design.”

Karla Marie Bentzen’s work is a colourful expression of dark human interactions. In a place where the mind is free to venture into the unknown a number of fictional characters set the scenes. This is an absurd world that openly explores the ugly aspects of life and where it sometimes can be a struggle to find order, her characters seem to never back down. As for her own way of thinking – the dirty shit is often the funniest.

Mariana was born in Polotitlán in 1984 and has never stoped mooving since then. After travelling to Italy , Austria and Colombia she settled down in Buenos Aires. There she studied Fashion Design at the Saint Martin school and Art Direccion for Cine (SICA) while developing the bases of her very own stilistic big-bang.

“It ain’t clothes, it’s lucky charms ready to wear.” That’s how METEORO defines both her vision of Fashion Design and her creations.

Between fauna and flora, music and geometry, fire, hearth and air, METORO’s creations are in fact a psychedelic syncretism where the ancient ornemanetal culture of the native people from Latin America meets street art and graphic art of all kinds.

Currently she lives between Berlin and Copenhagen where she is developing new lines for her brand METEORO.

He recently made a no less than great EP via LOOKING FORWARD

For the last 10 years Frederik has been a key figure on the Copenhagen indie scene as a member of the bands Ghost Society and Lake Placid, a respected and noted remixer and as a director of music videos and live visuals for prominent indie acts.

In 2010 Frederik started to transform unrest into beats and solitude into songs. Living in Madrid, Copenhagen, Berlin and Los Angeles he would spend nights writing and producing songs and developing a genuine personal expression with a significant Scandinavian touch.

The music of Rough Days For Diamond Trade is centered around distorted guitars, pumping beats and gloomy catchy synths topped off with Frederik’s charismatic and androgynous voice. There is already a huge buzz about the project in the blogosphere and other media (including The Guardian who picked RDFTD as new band of the day)

The quality of this act is only stressed looking at the people Frederik decided to work with: Award winning musicians Cæcilie Trier (Chimes & Bells, CTM) and Jannis Noya Makrigiannis (Choir Of Young Believers) are featured on the EP, it is mixed by award winning producer Anders Rhedin (Dinner), and mastered by Mikkel Gemzøe (who has worked with acts like When Saints Go Machine).

Since 2003 Jens B. Christiansen has been producing electronic music under the moniker Rumpistol, so far resulting in 4 albums, 2 EPs plus lots of remixes of acts like Efterklang, System, Analogik & Blue Foundation. Rumpistol has performed at festivals and venues all across Europe, North America, Mexico, China and Russia. He has created game and tv scores, live soundtracks and appeared in various improvised setups and constellations with artists such as Red Baron, F.S. Blumm & Kohei Matsunaga.

In 2010 he was nominated for the Qwartz Electronic Music Award in the Discovery category for his album “Dynamo” and in 2012 he released the album “Floating” – a widely acclaimed collaboration with the Danish vocalist Red Baron that further explored the post dub-step vocal territories opened up on 2011’s “Talk To You” EP.

With tighter song structures, intimate lyrics and the Baron’s ecstatic vocal projections, the two create a parallel world in which the domestic breakdowns of wintry Copenhagen are filtered through surreal sun-bleached Californian dreams, resulting in a robotic and hypnagogic hybrid of electronic soul.

Since 2003 Jens B. Christiansen has run the label Rump Recordings, showcasing mainly Danish electronic artists through a release span of more than 20 albums.

Rumpistol is currently signed to the renowned Berlin-based label Project: Mooncircle that also houses artists like Robot Koch (DE), fLako (DE) & Sweatson Klank (US).

With a background as a drummer in the reggae and ska band ”Teknisk Uheld” Tobias Pedersen has formed the foundation for his onward journey into the musical landscape. But before the time when Tobias joined the eight-piece orchestra, most of the time was spent drumming on his own, whether it was behind the drums with his favourite tunes in his headphones or all thinkable surfaces in his parents’ house.

During his time as a drummer his interest for other types of music grew. Meanwhile, he was introduced to DJ-culture via reggae events in Copenhagen. It was also through the reggae music that Tobias was introduced to Drum’n’bass. With this genre, Tobias decided to produce music under the name of Beastie Respond. Particularly it was mixes from the legendary label Renegade Hardware that inspired Tobias.

When dBridge and Instra:mental later on launched the Autonomic-concept, Tobias’ perspective on electronic music in general was further widened. This concept tried to break with dogmatic genre perceptions, which for Tobias opened up to other styles and trends in electronic music.

Over a two-year period, Beastie Respond was a resident DJ at the now-defunct Dunkel Bar in Copenhagen. His residency named OTTOMAN hosted a series of the Drum’n’bass genres’ significant names including dBridge, Instra:mental, Loxy, Rockwell and Commix. Later on, the musical spectrum was broadened and also names like Rustie, Com Truise and Boddika paid a visit to the small club.

Through these events Beastie Respond created ties abroad where several of the visiting DJs started playing the music of the young Copenhagener in their sets and on their radio shows.

In the summer of 2011, Beastie Respond released his debut 12” entitled “Syncopy” through the Danish label Teal Recordings. The A-side “Syncopy” was in the very last episode of the Autonomic Podcast. Hereby, Beastie Respond achieved to appear on the same platform which, at the time, was also a great source of inspiration for him.

On the b-side “Syncopy” was remixed by Blawan, who is one of the greatest exponents of the British techno music right now. This meant that the release attracted attention from across the club scene. The remix received airplay on British radio when Modeselektor guested Pete Tongs The Essential Mix and when Blawan guested Mary Ann Hobbs show on XFM.

Since his debut release, Beastie Respond has been working on his first LP where he really manifests his unique musical expression. The culmination of the past years’ work is in May 2013 where the album entitled “Fictitious Nostalgia” is released.

In short, Turboweekend has played Trailerpark Festival 2 times before, in 2007 & 2009 – and since then the band has transformed into one of Denmark’s biggest bands. Now they’re back with a new EP just released.

Turboweekend has excited Danish concert-goers and critics and made a solid impression with their fusion between melodic rock and danceable synth-pop. In addition to the recognition of the audience the band won a Danish Music Award in the category Best Danish Live act in 2011. Earlier in 2011 they were awarded the Breakthrough of The Year prize at Danish National Radio’s show P3 Guld. In 2010 danish music magazine Gaffa awarded the band with Hit of The Year for the song Trouble Is. Turboweekend have sold more than 40.000 records (whoa!).

The story begins in 2006. Turboweekend is formed by the 3 childhood friends Silas Bjerregaard, Morten Køie and Martin Øhlers Petersen in Copenhagen. Later on Anders Stig Møller joins in and as we entered 2012 the band could look back at 2 gold-selling album-releases and a free EP which has been downloaded more than 20.000 times from Turboweekend.com.

First album, Night Shift, was released in 2007 and includes the 3 singles Into You, Wash Out and Glowing Vision which were all played on Danish radio. The band was nominated as Best New Danish Act at both Zulu Awards and P3 Guld.

The second album Ghost of A Chance was released in 2009 and included the hits Trouble Is, After Hours, Something or Nothing and the beautiful ballad Sweet Jezebel. These hits helped sky-rocket Turboweekend’s reputation, and the late DJ and and music expert extraordinaire Kjeld Tolstrup said about the album: “[it] makes their 80’s inspired colleagues The Killers taste like a burger with way to much cheese and too little meat!”

In late 2010 the band released the EP Bound for free download through their homepage in exchange for subscribtion. The EP features guest appearances by Efterklang’s Casper Clausen, Quadron’s Coco O and Ty Bulmer from New Young Pony Club. The video for 2nd Single Into The Pavement is made entirely from creative contributions from fans of the band.

It’s their first show in Denmark btw.

In a fickle, hyper-speed age of quick and easy consumption, taking one’s time to evolve seems a luxury. But Landshapes did just that. “We needed time to work things out…we’ve been brewing I suppose…” explains Luisa.

As their previous incarnation Lulu and the Lampshades, they’re probably best known for the viral cup song You’re Gonna Miss Me – over 3 million hits on Youtube and counting – but in the ensuing period they’ve undergone a considerable musical metamorphosis.

They have learnt and grown together, four distinctive personalities jostling and pulling, each with their own set of influences and sensibilities – an unlikely alchemy which comes together and makes sense. Broad brushstrokes, big sounds and mournful melodies forged a new soundscape, so that when a typo accidentally billed them as ‘Landshapes’ it seemed an appropriate description for an altogether new sound, and an altogether new band.

Landshapes is the sound of four people in a dingy practice room, building on accidents, listening over and reworking obsessively until every band member is satisfied. An unconventional and serendipitous a process it might be, but it’s crucial to Landshapes overall sound.

Their debut album Rambutan – the name chosen “not so much after the fruit but for the sound the word makes” and produced by Ash Workman (Klaxons, Veronica Falls) is a distillation of songs old and new, re-worked and fine tuned with a deft precision.

In Limbo, with its stunning video, proves a triumphant opening salvo. “It’s always felt like a fighting song both musically and lyrically” says Luisa Gerstein. With images of Bolivia’s Cholita female wrestlers proving a major stimulus whilst recording, Luisa sought them out, traveling to La Paz and teaming up with director Ian Pons Jewell. The resulting film is a dignified response to a “Latin American society where being both indigenous and a woman is a double sub-class” – a celebration of these extraordinary women both in and out of the wrestling ring.

Their unorthodox approach to songwriting is writ large across the ten tracks. Impasse “the oldest song on the record was a “tinkery ukulele thing” that became something “bigger and better with the band”; Threads “a lot of ideas that came together in the practice room, has the feel of different parts interjecting like a conversation” and Racehorses “a truculent song” that was to become one of their favourites after Heloise and Jemma developed a new bass and guitar part. Demons acts as a marker of their evolution – “recorded as Lulu And The Lampshades, it felt closer to the sound we were developing and tracks that change in the way it sounds and how we worked together as a band.”

Forthcoming single Insomniacs Club “is cursed” according to the band. “Anyone who gets involved with it gets insomnia. The guy making the video hasn’t slept for days, true story.”

Landshapes take on another dimension in a live setting. With drummer Dan the only constant, multi instrumentalists Luisa, Heloise and Jemma shift seamlessly from one song to the next swapping instruments and vocals with a fluid dexterity. This synchronicity – and their evolution as a band – was helped by some intensive touring under their previous moniker. Weeks spent in each others’ company, experiencing each others’ music and film selections, means – explains Dan – that “you start to absorb what you like and dislike, individually and collectively. Figuring out which direction you’re heading in via shared experience and foggy disparate influences. I think we’re still fine tuning that direction – and that’s good.”

Dinner is Anders Rhedin – and we love his new sounds! Read his friend Andrew’s description of Dinner:

Songs about ‘girls, destruction, and the divine feminine’. The sound of euro-ice, LA-warmth and chaos magic. Meet my friend Dinner.

Dinner is the moniker for Danish producer and singer Anders Rhedin – who happens to be a good friend of mine. Dinner’s record label asked me to write a few words to accompany the Dinner EP release ‘Girl EP’. Here they are.

What does Dinner look like? Admittedly, my friend’s physical appearance seems like quite the North-European cliché: he’s thin, blue-eyed, polite and speaks with an accent that sounds like something in between a nazi-villain from a WWII-movie and Swedish aristocracy.

What does Dinner sound like? His music definitely calls on Euro-references as well. Icy traces of Joy Division and echoes of Nico-ish phrasing come together with Eno-esque melody-lines and occasional kraut-like motifs, and together form a framework within which Rhedin’s chanting voice, minimalistic pop-melodies and somewhat wobbly productions can coexist. But underneath Dinner’s apparently cold surface there’s an uncanny warmth. Like a warm summer-night where something is about to go terribly wrong. I think that the years Rhedin lived in LA has something to do with it. Distorted, smog-filtered sunshine emerge here and there in Dinner’s songs.

Also, there’s Rhedin’s interest in the occult. I’ve rarely had a talk with my friend without the mention of a Buddhist sutra, Crowley or chaos-magick comes up in the conversation. I myself, see Dinner as a pop-ritual. Live, Rhedin performs alone, with a cloak of a sort – doing ritualistic (and somewhat awkward) dance moves to accompany his songs.

All this stuff adds up to this. Dinner: The sound of LA and Scandinavia superimposed. Lyrics where words like ‘demons’, ‘sigils’ and ‘rituals’ pop up rather often. Brought to you (live) by a dancing guy. Personally, I love the combination of those elements.

What is ‘Girl EP’ about? Well, recently, I heard Dinner say the following to an audience at a show in Berlin: ‘Thank you for listening to my songs. They’re all about girls. And destruction. The Divine Feminine.’ What else would they be about? Given them a listen.
