tp_posters_blog.jpg

The wonderful TRAILERPARK FESTIVAL posters are now available for sale for 200 dkr each at www.ArtRebels.com and This Issue, Blågårdsgade 14, Cph N! All proceeds still go to the ‘Art To Action - Social Innovation Ghana‘ project, so feel free to buy plenty ;o).

The ten posters are made by Theis Wendt, SHFT, Mai Sydendahl, GoAheadRobUs, Mathias Malling Mortensen, Maria Torp, Jacob Tolstrup, Hvass&Hannibal, Anika Lori and Andreas Emenius. Thank you very much for the contributions!

Kjeld Tolstrup

img_0165-copy.jpg

The Godfather of the Danish DJ-scene, Kjeld Tolstrup, graced us with his presence for the big finale party on Sunday night. He got accompanied by Djuna Barnes and together the two had the crowd dancing on-stage and climbing the surrounding circus tent!

Djuna Barnes

img_1799-copy.jpg

Copenhagen’s First Lady Miss Djuna Barnes took us from daytime to nighttime with a set that was perfectly crafted for getting yet another big party going the final day of TRAILERPARK.

Ohland

img_1764-copy.jpg

One of the most unique performances of TRAILERPARK was Ohland who sang beautiful, melodic songs melted together with hard-hitting sounds and created a very special atmosphere on stage with pink silk-paper confetti, satin umbrellas and origami-like birds on strings. A truly magical performance. Catch a glimpse of it here!

African Footprint

img_2987-copy.jpg

In keeping with the main focus of TRAILERPARK FESTIVAL, a Ghanese performance group visited TRAILERPARK. They stomped, danced and drummed like the Skatepark has never seen before!

Lulu Rouge

img_1661-copy.jpg

Our good friends Buda & T.O.M aka Lulu Rouge stopped by TRAILERPARK Sunday afternoon to soak up the sun and play some beats. As always these two seasoned DJs made a very complex set seem effortless and intense at the same time.

Aura

aura.jpg

Aura and her two band-members played a wonderful acoustic set on Sunday afternoon at TRAILERPARK. Aura entertained the listeners in a cosy and comfortable storyteller-like way, and the band accompanied her perfectly. Watch a clip here!

Kenneth Bager

img_2937-copy.jpg

Legendary Kenneth Bager got the big Sunday session kicked off to a good start with soothing beats and a chilled vibe. The sun was shining from a cloudless sky and the beers were cold. What better way to start the day?!

GhettoRave

2658.jpg

GhettoRave played the Saturday night graveyard shift, but there was nothing dead about the three-hours session! Inspector Scratch, Tom Collins and CopyFlex brought lots of friends such as LadyBox, Leif and Soho. Though the air was very thick with smoke, the piercing beats and bass cut right through it!

Scott Cooper

img_0123-copy.jpg

The wonderful Scott Cooper paid us a visit on Saturday and rocked the TRAILERPARK to its core! This house-music DJ/producer spun one progressive track after another and kept the dance floor hypin’!

AC Slater

img_0110-copy.jpg

AC Slater is not only a character from the early 90s sitcom Saved By The Bell, but one of our favorite DJ/producers! AC remixed Samo Ti by FaggetFairys (ArtRebels/MFD) in 2007 and has since become an almost regular fixture in Copenhagen (if not in person, then definitely in spirit). He played an extraordinary set at TRAILERPARK full of playful beats and dirty bass that hit the crowd in a constant sonic wave of pleasure. At the end of the set FaggetFairys’ MC Ena joined AC on stage as he was handing over the reins to Scott Cooper - have a look here!

Audiotrucs

img_0071-copy.jpg

We first heard Audiotrucs at Rodeo in Berlin six months ago and immediately booked them for TRAILERPARK FESTIVAL 2008! They were the first acts we booked and they did not disappoint! Not only are their technical skills impeccable and their flair for picking the right tracks are amazing, but they are also the sweetest and most helpful people you will ever meet. Thank you guys we look forward to next time! Check out a video clip here!

Purple Crush

img_0052-copy.jpg

Purple Crush came all the way from Brooklyn to keep the party going and so they did! With a sprinkle of exotic break dance moves and a whole lot of attitude this dynamic duo had the floor packed! Keep an eye out for them as they seem to be stopping by Copenhagen more and more to spread some purple love and we are loving it!

First Floor Power

img_2919-copy.jpg

Straight outta Stockholm and in great form First Floor Power brought down the house from first key-stroke to the encore. Underplayed greatness is a Swedish master-trade and it is safe to say that this band encompasses just that. Little anecdotes accompanied every song and it felt like a very personal performance. By the end the crowd was on their feet clapping and singing along! Watch a video clip here.

First Aid Kit

img_2827-copy.jpg

The two teenage sisters from Sweden played a moving and heartfelt gig while the rain poured down upon Copenhagen, forcing the performance to take place indoors. But this unplanned twist of events seemed to become the perfect setting for this subtle yet powerful experience. The sisters performed well beyond their young age and their lyrics are surprisingly grown-up. They played them with a quiet and quirky confidence and had the listeners in the palm of their hands. A stellar performance from two girls we hope to be seeing a lot more of in years to come. Have a look at the performance here!

Ung Flugt

2560-copy.jpg

Ung Flugt is Danish for Young Escape - and whatever you want to escape from, this DJ act can make it happen! As the tunes fill the room you find yourself slowly leaving your worries behind. Usually Ung Flugt is a duo consisting of Johanne and ArtRebels‘ very own Najaaraq, but for TRAILERPARK Najaaraq was flying solo, and even though Johanne was dearly missed, Najaa played one of the best sets! Very varied, up tempo, and joyful. Well done!

Lucy Love & YoAkim

2496_02.jpg

Vocals that cut through glass and beats that makes your heart pump faster. From start to finish Lucy Love delivered and intense and tightly packed performance that left everyone, but herself, breathless…

Specktors

img_2814-copy.jpg

WOW! Specktors came, Specktors saw and Specktors conquered TRAILERPARK! The energy-level hit an all time high when these boys hit the stage and it kept peeking for the following hour. The beats, the hard-hitting rhymes and the razor-sharp vocals proved that Specktors is a major force to be reckoned within Danish hip-hop. To Drysset, Bruce Wanr, Sluzh and Den friske Fyr: Thank you for a killer performance! Check, check, check it out - here! And with our very own Miss Ena here!

Kun OS feat. Leif

img_1138-copy.jpg

From the get-go it was obvious that the three MC’s were on fire! Soho, Rita Blue and Leif were on point and clearly having a great time on stage and feeding the crowd lots of energy. Jens Fokking and Goofy Raskl delivered solid beats and playful variations and had the audience at their fingertips. A very enjoyable experience and it is hard to believe that these kids have only been playing their own material for a very short time. Can’t wait for more! Check out a video clip from the performance here!

Joe & Honey

img_1121-copy.jpg

Beautiful people and beautiful music came together in amazing harmony when Joe & Honey (and band) performed an early evening set on the outdoor stage. One of those gigs where you just sat back, sipped your beer and hummed along… Have a look here!

Boody B

img_2761-copy.jpg

Our beloved friend, and member of the ArtRebels family, Boody B, from the popular New York label/blog Palms Out Sounds played a stand out set on Friday night. A few old tracks and a few new tracks and a lot of goodies in between the tightly mixed set made it an interesting journey that just kept you bouncing.

Dj Carl Emil @ TrailerPark 08′

carlemil.jpg

Duo to an invitation to play at the Olympics in China this weekend, Jean Von Barden will sadly not be attending TrailerPark this weekend.

Instead we got the minimal tech dj Carl Emil to play saturday after First Floor Power. Carl Emil is  apart from being a talented dj, one of the main men behind Copenhagen clubs as Elektronisk Tirsdag, Klub Klub and last weekends Strøm Festival.

Interview

img_1065.jpg

For the second year running the TRAILERPARK FESTIVAL is about to hit Copenhagen! TRAILERPARK is a alternative three-day music and arts festival from 22.-24. August 2008 organised by the HeartRebels (www.heartrebels.com) foundation which is run by the Copenhagen- based creative community ArtRebels (www.ArtRebels.com).

The TRAILERPARK FESTIVAL is a project that exceeds the boundaries of your average festival in both shape, location, content and purpose, which is what makes it a unique experience, according to TRAILERPARK and ArtRebels founder Carla Cammilla Hjort: “We were very happy with all the people who came and supported TRAILERPARK last year, so this year we wanted TRAILERPARK to become an event that in itself supports a good cause. We therefore decided to mix it all up and broaden both our own and others horizons by changing location, expand the musical and artistic genres and turning the festival into a charity event where all proceeds go to the ‘Art To Action - Social Innovation Ghana’ project.” READ MORE HERE…

First Aid Kit @ TrailerPark 08.

l_7215e82eee98db8007b117b6e8e41bd0.jpg

First Aid Kit is a Swedish duo formed by sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg from Enskede, a suburb south of Stockholm, signed on The Knife’s Rabid Records. They’re young - Klara is 15 and Johanna 17. The music they create could, however, hardly be called young, it’s rather ancient. The emphasis is on narrative lyrics accompanying playful melodies with intense, thick harmonies.

The musical journey of Klara and Johanna began, as so many others have, with singing karaoke to various pop songs that leaked into their childhood home. It was Britney, Christina and so on. Nevertheless, they turned away from their earlier musical path a few years later, when they discoverd music that could touch them in a way completley new to them. An entry to this new way of experiencing music came with Bright Eyes, the alias of singer/songwriter Conor Oberst, Leonard Cohen and Mr. Dylan to name a few. Klara almost describes her first encounter with the song “First Day of My Life” by the earlier mentioned Bright Eyes as a revelation.

Now authenticity and honesty was put in first place - and consequently that was what came to characterize the music the two sisters produced. At 13, Klara was given a guitar that she barley touched the first year. But when the basic chords could be played somewhat correctly, the first lyrics, melodies and harmonies came quite quickly. Then came another song. And another. And another. And then these songs were published on Myspace, which resulted in positive response from near and far.

African Footprint @ TrailerPark 08

blog-africa.jpg

As this festival is in support of “Art To Action - Social Innovation Ghana” it seems only natural to have a performance from Ghana! We are very proud and happy to announce that the amazing performance group African Footprint will perform on Friday night at TrailerPark!

“The music and dance group in African Footprint International is a crucial department which tries to reach people to disseminate information in whatever we are doing. It is considered the hub of the organization as it has a lot meaning to what we are doing.

The music and dance group consist of both deaf and hearing members. Members are selected from all ages and race as well as sex. The organization takes them through our music academy and graduates them to be members of this music and dance group which is the base of African Footprint International.”

Purple Crush live @ TrailerPark ‘08

billede-1.png

Honered, delighted and extreeeeeemly happy to announce the dynamic duo, Purple Crush at this year’s TrailerPark !!

Husband and wife duo and big sis and brother to the emerging Brooklyn electro movement, Purple Crush have become a staple to the New York underground as well as the internet’s worldwide dance music community.

Isla and Jared met at artschool in California where they studied dance and music respectively, but it wasn’t until they migrated to Brooklyn that they conceived Purple Crush. Always with a strong pop sensibility, they have explored different sounds, ranging from hip-hop, funk, dance, rock, and electro, and over the years, have compiled a catalogue of music that paints a purple picture.

Part of what makes Purple Crush so alluring is their live show. Isla stands out as one of the strongest in the field, pulling her years of dance training together with her raw take on club dance styles, while Jared provides a constant groove, whether as a dj, tweaking a drum machine, or shredding a guitar solo worthy of guitar god status.

Under their own label, Crushed Records, Purple Crush have released numerous albums and singles, claiming collaborations with Baltimore Club legend, Scottie B, and New York icon and Electroclash founder, Larry Tee, to name a few. This year, with a new album well under way, they also plan on releasing a compilation of New York producers and MCs, as well as an EP from their first artist, Mike Genius.
